Q.1) Find the perimeter of a square with side length 4.7m.

SOLUTION:

Given: SQUARE
Side = 4.7m = S
Perimeter of square = P = ?

Perimeter of a square = 4*S
P = 4*4.7
P = 18.8m

ANS: The perimeter of a square is 18.8m.

Q.2) The perimeter of a rectangle is 42cm and its length is 10cm. Find its breadth.

SOLUTION:

Given: RECTANGLE
Length = L = 10cm
Breadth = B = ?
Perimeter of a rectangle = P = 42cm

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2*( L+B )
42 = 2*( 10+ B )
42/2 = 10 + B
21 – 10 = B
11cm = B

ANS: The perimeter of a rectangle is 11cm.

Q.3) What is the length of the side of a square park whose perimeter is 60m.

SOLUTION:

Given: SQUARE PARK
Side = ? = S
Perimeter of a square = P = 60m

Perimeter of a square = 4*S
60 = 4*S
60/4 = S
15m = S

ANS: The perimeter of a square is 15m.
——————————————————————————————-
Q.4) Find the side of a square whose perimeter is 4.8m.

SOLUTION:

Given: SQUARE
Side = ? = S
Perimeter of a square = P = 4.8m

Perimeter of a square = 4*S
4.8m = 4*S
4.8/4 = S
1.2m = S

ANS: The perimeter of a square is 1.2m.

Q.5) The length of a carpet is 3.4m and breadth is 2.3m. What will be its perimeter?

SOLUTION:

Given: RECTANGULAR CARPET
Length = L = 3.4m
Breadth = B = 2.3m
Perimeter of a rectangle = P = ?

P = 2*( L+ B )
P = 2*( 3.4m + 2.3m )
P = 2*5.7
P = 11.4m

ANS: The perimeter of a rectangle is 11.4m.

Q.6) Find the perimeter of a square book of side 20cm.

SOLUTION:

Given: SQUARE BOOK
Side = 20cm = S
Perimeter of a square = 4*S = P

P = 4* 20
P = 80cm

ANS: The perimeter of a square is 80cm.
————————————————————————————————
Q.7) Find the side of a square field whose perimeter is 76.8m.

SOLUTION:

Given: SQUARE FIELD
Side = S = ?
Perimeter of a square = 76.8m

Perimeter of a square = 4*S
76.8m = 40*S
76.8/40 = S
19.2m= S

ANS: The perimeter of a square is 19.2m.

Q.8) A rectangular park whose length is 30.5m and breadth is 20.5m is to be fenced with a barbed wire. How much barbed wire is needed?

SOLUTION:

Given: RECTANGULAR PARK
Length = L = 30.5m
Breadth = B = 20.5m
Barbed wire needed for fencing = ?

Barbed wire needed = Perimeter of rectangular park

Perimeter of rectangular park = 2*( L+ B )
P = 2*( 30.5 + 20.5 )
P = 2*51.0
P = 2*51
P = 102m

ANS: the perimeter of rectangular park is 102m.

Q.9) A rope of length 24m was used to fence a square patch of land for a garden. Find the
length of side of square garden.

SOLUTION:

Given: SQUARE GARDEN
Length of sides = S = ?

Length of rope = perimeter = 24m
Perimeter of square = 4*S
P = 4*S
24 = 4*S
24/4 = S
6m = S
